THE APPLICATION OF 'WORD LIST CARD' TO INCREASE STUDENTS' ENGLISH VOCABULARY

The objective of this research is to find out whether word list card can increase significantly students' English vocabulary or not.
The sample of this research is fifth grade students of SDN 56 Gorontalo City, which consist of 26 students. The method used in this research is quantitative method by using pre-test and post-test design. The instrument used in technique of collecting the data is multiple choices test and it is analyzed by using t-test.
The hypothesis formulation of this research is "word list card can increase of the students' English vocabulary". The result of hypothesis verification by using the formula is a difference between the students' achievement in their vocabulary before and after applying word list card. In calculating the hypothesis verification by using sample t-test formula, the result of t_count compared with t_list, t table that used with degree of freedom (df=db=dk) = n1+n2-2. If t_count more bigger than t_list (t_count > t_list ), so H_0 is rejected and 〖 H〗_a Is accepted. Based on analysis of this research, the researcher found that tcount is bigger than tlist (8, 56 > 2, 00) with the level significance α = 0, 05 and DF = (n1 + n2 - 2). It means that the hypothesis is acceptable. In other word, word list card can increase the students' English vocabulary.
