An apodization method for grating coupler in waveguide cavity

High-efficiency guided-mode resonance for an incident beam of Gaussian profile was studied. Grating-tooth positions of grating coupler were shifted in a waveguide cavity to apodize the coupling coefficient within a coupling aperture to maximize the resonance. Devices were designed and their coupling characteristics were numerically simulated.
