Large dense cored vesicles are enriched in neuropeptide processing intermediates in the Aplysia bag cells

1989
In this study we focus on further defining the flow of neuropeptides through the secretory pathway in the bag cells. Our current model suggests that the ELH prohormone undergoes a rapid endoproteolytic cleavage prior to exiting the Golgi. The early cleavage event allows the aminoterminal and carboxyterminal regions of the precursor to be packaged into distinct sets of dense cored vesicles
