Gas flow characteristics through slag fixed bed and moving bed

In this paper, characteristics of gas-solid flow through slag beds were observed and investigated experimentally and theoretically using the tube furnace, 20 mm in ID. The results show that pressure drop through slag in fixed bed and moving bed is proportional to slip velocity between gas and solids, which was less than that of calculated results by the Ergur Equation. Pressure drop at gas downflowing through slag bed is greater than that of gas upflowing. The results are applied to fluidized-bed combustors.
