“Büyük” Sıfatının Türkçe ve Korecedeki Anlamsal Görünümleri

In this study, the semantic aspects of the adjective “big” in Turkish and Korean were dealt with a corpus-based approach and these aspects were illustrated with a cognitive linguistic view. Within this framework, this study aims to demonstrate the theoretical description about how the adjective “big” has gradations in Turkish and Korean on a continuum from literal meaning to figurative meaning; and to give similarities and differences between two languages. The theoretical framework bases on Dirven (2002), Radden (2002) and Syrpa (2017). When the findings of the study is evaluated the results indicate that two languages generally have common features when analyzed on the basis of semantic categories, however there are small differences when the semantic categories are considered separately.
