If the learner is the anesthesia provider: & The beginner learner will be given the opportunity to delegate patient care to a colleague (confederate), so he/she can trouble shoot the machine issue. & The experienced learner could assist the technician (confederate) in trouble shooting the problem in addition to providing patient care (no help available to assume patient care, see Discussion section). The confederate will appear lost and unable to make a diagnosis or formulate alternative plans.
