Effect of different food plants on larval and post larval development of Hyposidra infixaria Walk. (Lepidoptera: Geometridae), a resurgent looper pest of tea.

Studies on the effect of seven different host plants, viz., wild jatropha, jamun, tea, amra, jarul, citrus and water apple on growth and development of Hyposidra infixaria (Walk) influenced the total larval period, pupal period, and its weight, percentage pupation, adult emergence and also fecundity age and longevity of adults. The total larval period and pupal period was longest on citrus, followed by jamun whereas shortest on tea (23.97 days and 9.10 days, respectively). Growth index values were highest on tea followed by jarul but significantly higher than other host plants.
