A channel rotaxane coordination polymer (RCP) based on the assembly of p-sulfonatocalix[8]arene and 4,4′-bipyridine-N,N′-dioxide ligand

Abstract In this paper, we report the first rotaxane structure of p -sulfonatocalix[8]arene as part of a supramolecular 3D co-ordination polymer. In this structure, 4, 4′-bipyridine- N, N ’-dioxide (bpdo) as the linear axle and p -sulfonatocalix[8]arene as the wheel have been reported. The structure provides new opportunities for large calixarenes as wheels to be applied in the field of metal–organic rotaxane frameworks.
