Population surveillance on psychosocial factors and ovreall health

Objective To survey on the psychosocial factors and overall health levels in population.Methods 1 160 staff from a factory in Sichuan were randomly sampled as objects.Their social-economical-demographic characters,life events,social supports,psychosoatic symptoms,social function disabilities and current diseases were measured in both years.The first three parts of contents were treated as causal variable,and the last three were put in principle components analysis to yield outcome variables,which were physical,social,mental and overall health.Simple and multiple factors analyses were applied.Results The means of social,mental and overall health in 1998 were lower than that in 1997.The means of each outcome variables in each levels of sex,marriage,incomes,culture were different.Life events,ages and work periods were positive factors and social support was negative factor to outcome varibles.Conclusion The social,mental and overall health statuses were better in 1998 than those in 1997.Male,abnormal marriages,low incomes,higher stimulation dose of negative and neutral enents,lower subjective supports,older ages and longer work periods were the risk factors of abnormal health statuses
