The Limits of the right to the city as a prism to understand urban conflicts: collective action and language of rights in the Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires

espanolEl presente trabajo se propone explorar posibles sentidos del derecho a la ciudad en los marcos de significacion colectiva de un conjunto de movimientos sociales urbanos que no reivindican explicitamente esta nocion. Mediante una metodologia cualitativa con entrevistas en profundidad, encontramos que existen aspectos que nos hacen dudar de la pertinencia conceptual y explicativa del derecho a la ciudad para entender las demandas de estas organizaciones. En su lugar, proponemos analizar estas reivindicaciones como la expresion de un lenguaje de derechos. EnglishThis paper aims to explore possible meanings of the right to the city concept within the frame of shared meanings of a number of urban social movements that do not explicitly voice this notion. Through qualitative research and in-depth interviews, we have found some elements that make us doubt its conceptual and explanatory relevance to understand these organization’s demands. Instead, we propose to analyze these grievances as the expression of a language of rights.
