The Effect of Learning Model Outside the Classroom with Scaffolding Techniques on the Ability of Mathematical Understanding, Communication, and Critical Thinking

This study aims to determine the effect of outdoor learning models with scaffolding techniques on the ability of class VII students to understand mathematics, communication and critical thinking at SMP Negeri 17 Bengkulu Tengah. This type of research is a quasi experiment, with the research subject being Class VII students of SMP Negeri 17 Bengkulu Tengah in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. The results of the study were (1) there was an effect of the learning model outside the classroom with the scaffolding technique on the ability of mathematical understanding, namely 44.1%; (2) There is an effect of outdoor learning model with scaffolding technique on mathematical communication skills, namely 40.4%; (3) There is an effect of the outer-class learning model with the scaffolding technique on critical thinking skills, mathematical comprehension abilities, and mathematical communication.
