Nonlinear model of steel tube sorting using eddy currents

Abstract At the SIDERCA plant MAGNATEST facilities are used for the detection of possible mixtures of tubes of different steel grades by the eddy current technique. The detection depends on the material properties of the steels to be analyzed, and on the careful choice of operating parameters such as frequency, current and harmonic selection. Results of a mathematical model used to optimize these parameters are presented.
