Elastography applications in pregnancy

2020
Abstract Elasticity imaging in pregnancy is not part of routine clinical practice, primarily because pregnancy tissues are not as straightforward as tissues such as breast or liver, for which elastography applications are well established. However, the field is rapidly but the field is rapidly developing and possibilities are exciting. This chapter reviews potential applications of elasticity techniques to two important pregnancy tissues: the cervix (for predicting preterm birth or success of labor induction) and the placenta (for evaluating function).
