The gastrointestinal tract absorption of acyclovir (ACV) in rats

Objective:To investigate the acyclovir(ACV)absorption through gastrointestinal tract in rats.Methods:The absorption ratio of ACV at various GI segments was studied using in situ per- fusion method in rats.Results:After the rats were fed for 3 hours,the absorption ratio of ACV was 9.46% at stomach;20.2%,15.70%,9.15%,4.59% at the upper,middle,lower intestinal tracts and colon,respectively.Conclusion:Acyclovir was mostly and poorly absorbed at upper and middle in- testinal tract.
