Losses Calculation and Ventilation Cooling of Air-Cooled Axial-Flux Permanent Magnet Asynchronous Couplings

2018
In order to study the air friction loss and ventilation cooling of high-power axial-flux permanent magnet asynchronous couplings, a forced air-cooling structure of the axial-flux permanent magnet asynchronous couplings is designed. Based on the model of three-dimensional fluid field and temperature field, the air-flow characteristics, the fluid field distribution and the temperature distribution of the magnetic eddy current speed-control device are gotten. The results show that the forced air-cooling structure has better cooling effect than the natural conventional. The friction losses of copper rotor and permanent magnet rotor are calculated. The measurement method is studied. The air friction loss of axial-flux permanent magnet asynchronous couplings under different rotating speeds is obtained by the method of loss separation. The experimental results are in agreement with the calculated values. It is shown that the calculation method of air friction loss of high-speed rotor based on fluid field analysis is effective, which provides a theoretical basis for the efficiency analysis, heat dissipation design and loss optimization of axial-flux permanent magnet asynchronous couplings.
