Development of an army aviator composite risk assessment model

2019
Army Aviation mission scenarios have inherent risks associated with them. Risks are associated with weather conditions, anticipated flight maneuvers, aircraft sensors and technologies, as well as aviator training and experience, attentiveness, and physiological conditions. We have initiated the development of an Aviator Risk Assessment Model (AvRAM) aimed at modeling a multitude of factors that interact in a highly complex fashion to affect flight safety and mission success. A single risk assessment score is derived that represents the summation of a range of weighted composite risk assessment scores based on mathematical modeling of mission complexity, operational stressors, and pilot particulars.
