Recent Advances in Electrochemiluminescence of Halide Perovskites

2020
Abstract Noticeably, halide perovskites have attracted persistent research interest in various fields due to their peculiar merits, e.g. low cost, high mobility, high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yields close to 100%, and excellent color purity and adjustability etc. Very recently, some pioneers evaluated the possibility of perovskite electrochemiluminescence (ECL), with remarkably high ECL intensity and some unique characteristics. Especially, on the basis of halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) or quantum dots (QDs) scaffold, perovskite ECL in either organic or aqueous medium was achieved and displayed satisfactory ECL efficiency (vs classical Ru(bpy)32+ system) and satisfactory stability and sensing applications. In this review, recent progresses in such newly emerged ECL system, including the specific perovskite NCs or QDs applied, the related electrochemistry and ECL mechanisms, and the preliminary sensing applications were summarized, and future development was anticipated.
