Role of chemistry in acquiring the maritime knowledge, skills and competencies

In the paper, in the light of the requirements of the NQF as well as STCW and MARPOL Conventions, the range of chemical issues and also the methods and forms of teaching activities employed at the course of didactic process when implementing the subject of Chemistry at the maritime academy are analyzed. The possibilities of seizing the opportunity of the Chemistry education by students to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies necessary for their future careers, are presented.
