Physicochemical Methods for Detection of Contact Allergens

1988
Physicochemical detection methods are of great help in tracing contact allergens in a patient’s environment. Spot tests and thinlayer chromatography (TLC) are the most important methods for practical tracing oi substances such as nickel, chromium, cobalt, formaldehyde, and epoxy resin. More complicated methods, such as high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), must be applied for detecting other allergens. In the future these methods should be used in dermatologic practice.
