Ultrasensitive torque detection and ultrafast rotation with an optically levitated nanoparticle

We develop an ultrasensitive optically levitated nanoparticle torque sensor and experimentally demonstrate sensitivity of (4.2 ± 1.2) × 10−27 Nm/√Hz at room temperature. We also achieve record high mechanical rotation at several GHz.
