REMOÇÃO DE MINIPLACAS E PARAFUSOS NA REGIÃO BUCO- MAXILO-FACIAL: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA Removal of Miniplates and Screws in the Oral and Maxillofacial Region: a Review of the Literature

The use of titanium miniplates and screws in surgery of the maxillomandibular complex has been growing in recent years with the scientific evidence of its high effectiveness. It is thus common for doubts to emerge as to whether or not such devices should be removed after bone repair. The present review sets out to discuss the differences in management and their rationale, bearing in mind that this issue is rarely examined in Brazilian journals, and to provide scientifically based data for deciding on the correct treatment option.
