The invention relates to a method for controlling an electric battery (2) with a total number of electrically interconnected interconnected individual cells (5), wherein the electrical battery (2) for supplying electricity to a vehicle electrical system (1) is provided, which comprises at least (a first subnet 1.1 includes) and a second sub-network (1.2). an electrical voltage for the first subnetwork (1.1) and by means of a partial number of the individual cells (5), the invention provides a further electrical voltage for the second subnetwork (1.2) by means of the total number of single cells (5), wherein the total number of single cells (5) is divided into fixed groups (G1 to G4) of a plurality of individual cells (5), whose number corresponds to the partial number of the individual cells (5), and one of the fixed groups (G1 to G4) for supply of the second subnetwork (1.2) is switched selectable. The invention further relates to an electrical battery (2) and a battery control unit.
