Impact of Extrinsic and Intrinsic Factors on Teachers’ Motivation

2017
The aim of the study is to examine the impact of extrinsic and intrinsic factors on teachers’ motivation. The questionnaires prepared for this purpose are applied to 216 teachers which are currently working in various schools and colleges in Bangladesh. The collected data have been analyzed through several techniques using SPSS 17.0 program. Analyses of the study reveal that a significant relation is observed between the “extrinsic and intrinsic factors” and the motivation of the teachers. When these relations are compared, it is found that the attitudes toward extrinsic factors have a stronger effect on motivation than the attitudes toward intrinsic factors. Overall, the teachers’ motivation levels are not so well (mean value is 3.47, and standard deviation is 0.988). Besides, the differences among the demographic variables (age, gender, occupation, monthly income level, and education) and the attitudes toward these factors and the levels of motivation are also measured. This study provides significant information for educational institutions in terms of “extrinsic and intrinsicfactors of motivation. Aus. J. Bus. Sco S. & IT. Vol 3(1), January 2017, P 19-27
