Evaluation of Glycemic Control and its Relationship with Dry Mouth in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus Referred to Ahvaz Dental School

2014
Background and Objective: Oral squamous cell carcinoma is the most common oral cancer and inflammatory cell expression and angiogenesis event had effect on it. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the expression and angiogenesis-correlation and inflammatory cell (macrophage) Secretion in which we used CD68 and CD34 Markers for their identification. Subjects and Methods: The paraffin-embedded specimens from 15 cases with OSCC were stained using immunohistochemistry staining technique with antibodies against CD68 and CD34. Peri tumoral and intratumoral vascular hotspot areas were selected separately for microvascular density and macrophage counting. We used SPSS software for data Analyses. For statistical analyses ANOVA, T-test and Linear Regression was used. P≤0.05 was considered as significant level. Results:There was no significant relationship between CD 68+ and CD 34+ cells in peritumoral areas. However, the data revealed from regression analysis showed significant association between microvascular density and macrophage density in both intratumoral (P=0.025) area and overall assessment (P=0.001). in addition, the presence of macrophages and microvascular at intratumoral areas were significantly higher than peritumoral areas. Conclusion: In contrast to peritumoral areas, increased macrophages significantly correlates with microvascular in intratumoral areas which means that different behavior of macrophages at intratumoral areas may be in the result of growth and progression of Tumor and increase of angiogenesis. ►Please cite this paper as: Shooriabi M, Habibikia A, Satvati SA, Mohagheghi SA, Mawalizadeh S, Rajaei L, Abbasi S.
