Effects of energetic ions on barium strontium titanate crystals

Abstract The effects of energetic ions on barium strontium titanate (BST) single crystals have been studied using low-energy He and high-energy Si ions. This investigation indicates that energetic ions significantly change the ferroelectric properties of BST single crystals. While He ion causes sharp increase in dielectric constant, Curie temperature ( T c ) and spontaneous polarization ( P s ), the Si ions cause slight change in T c , dielectric constant and P s .
