Chromosome number in three species of Rhinopetalum (Liliaceae)

Chromosome studies are described for three Old world species of Rhinopetalum. All species have a similar basic karyotype (n = 12), consisting of large symmetric (m, sm) and smaller asymmetric (t, st) chromosomes. So far,the somatic chromosome number of 2n = 24 for Rh. arianum and Rh. gibbosum is reported here for the first time.
