Production of thin metallised plastic films

Abstract A technique for producing thin metallised plastic films for use in heavy ion timing detectors is described. Foils with areal densities ranging from 5 to 20 μg/cm 2 and areas of up to 100 cm 2 can be routinely produced with a high degree of uniformity and flatness.
