A dynamic peaking model for thermal units considering the cost of power fluctuation based on statistical results

2016
With the rapidly increasing integration of new energy and High Voltage Direct Current Transmission (HVDC) into nowadays grids, as well as the changing load structure, the peak-valley difference and fluctuation of the load in a grid are becoming tough problems that need to be solved. However, in current research of peaking models, the dynamic peaking cost caused by the fluctuation of power output is often ignored. In this paper, a dynamic peaking model considering dynamic peaking cost is proposed, then the cost functions are discussed and given. Finally, a numerical example is given and studied, showing the effectiveness of the peaking model.
