Предварительные результаты исследований хуннского городища Тэрэлжийн-дурвулжин

2017
In 2015, the Russian-Mongolian expedition carried out investigations in the Tereljin Turvuldjin site in Mongolia. The monument has a shape of an irregular square. On the hill there are corner towers, in the center of each side there are gates. Inside the site there are four platforms connected in pairs by roads. In the process of excavation a large number of tiles and bricks are found. The article gives a technological and typological analysis of the tiles which is most likely dated by the time of the Western Han Dynasty, which is confirmed by radiocarbon analysis. The absence of mass finds (ceramics, bones, paleobotanical remains) raises the question of the functions of the ancient settlement. As a result of geophysical studies, no objects were found on the territory of the monument. The authors are discussing whether this site could be an administrative, economic, religious or any other center.
