The Impact Of Airport Operations On UrbanAir Quality
1970
The impact of airport operations on air quality has received relatively little scientific attention yet it is a concern of both airport operators and nearby communities. This concern is exemplified when the airport is in close proximity, or adjacent, to a major urban centre. This paper will discuss the major emisson sources which include aircraft exhaust emissions, airside vehicles, landside vehicles and energy/heating plant emissions. The relative importance of airport emissions compared to other sources in urban environments will be identified and future contributions to air quality examined.
