A case with anti-f and anti-S produced by massive transfusion.
1985
A patient with an intracranial arteriovenous malformation was a 18-year-old Japanese male and was transfused with compatible 134 units of various kind of the blood preparation during the operational extraction of the malformation. Anti-f and anti-S antibodies were detected in his serum 5 months after the operation. Both antibody titers measused by indirect antiglobulin test were 128. Anti-f in his serum agglutinated 9.0% of ABO matched and D antigen positive red cells. The Rh phenotypes of agglutinated red cells were CcDee, ccDEe, and CcDEe. These red cells probably have ce haplotype. To our knowledge, this is the first reported example of anti-f found in the Japanese.
