Mavi Yüzgeçli Orkinos (Thunnus thynnus L., 1758) Baliği Yetiştiriciliğinin Kültür Koşullarinda İncelenmesi

2004
The investigation of the rearing of bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus L., 1758) on culture conditions. Bluefin tuna is observed one of the most highly evolved fish species. Bluefin, members of mackerel family (Scombridae), are widely distributed in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. Its noted for their extensive migrations, large size and impressive speed. Tuna is one of the major products in seafood international trade. Bluefin tunas were captured by purse-seine in June-July and transported to grow- out floating cages. They are fed on Mediterranean small pelagic fish such as herring, sardines or mackerel. The tuna farming industry is relatively new, but has undergone rapid expansion in Turkiye during recent years. In this study, we are investigated the biological data and observations collected over the previous intensive farming campaigns as well as describe the processes used to overcome the problems encountered in the domestication, management and improvement of quality standards in the maintenance of tuna production.
