MEASURING ENGLISH LECTURERS’ TEST ITEMS USING CONTENT VALIDITY ANALYSIS

This study investigates the content of final test items constructed by English lecturers for students of English language program of one of institutes for Islamic studies in Indonesia. . The aims of this investigation are to know whether the tests contents are in line or not with the basic competence of the syllabus as well as to find the level of validity.  To answer the objectives, the researchers use descriptive analysis by collecting as many as possible data from the tests made by lectures and then analyzing them  to know whether the tests items represent the learning indicators as suggested by syllabus. The tests measured students’ skills in English speaking, listening, reading and writing. Findings of the study show  that most of the test items are in line with the courses basic competence and all the tests made by the lecturers have good content validity.
