A process for the separation of solids from polymer solutions
1999
The invention relates to a method for separating a dissolved polymer from solids. According to the invention the solid is separated by sedimentation and the solid is rinsed with a solvent in counter-current as it is settling out. The invention also relates to a method of producing polymers in a solvent, according to which a) a polymer having a low molecular weight is produced; b) the solid not dissolved in the reaction mixture is separated by sedimentation; and c) the mixture from which the solid has been removed is polymerized further until it reaches a certain molecular weight.
