Transition to farming - transition to milk culture> a case study from Mala Triglavca, Slovenia

In this paper, we discuss the transition to milk culture. While archaeological and bioche- mical data suggest that dairying was adopted in the Neolithic in Europe, archaeogenetic data show the absence of the allelic variant -13 910*T and very low lactase persistence in Neolithic populations in Europe. The Mala Triglavca case study shows that the Early Neolithic economy in the Caput Ad- riae region was mixed. It consisted of milk and processed milk, meat animal products, freshwater fish and various plants. The Vla∏ka group herders managed a broader spectrum of resources than exclusively ovicaprids, and were able to produce a wide range of low-lactose, storable products by fermenting milk. IZVLE∞EK - V ≠lanku razpravljamo o uporabi mleka in mle≠ni kulturi v prazgodovini. Medtem ko arheolo∏ki in biokemi≠ni podatki ka∫ejo na razvoj mlekarstva v neolitiku v Evropi, arheogenetski govorijo o odsotnosti alela -13.910*T in laktozne persistence pri neolitskih populacijah v Evropi. Raz- iskave v Mali Triglavci ka∫ejo, da je bilo gospodarstvo v zgodnjem neolitiku na obmo≠ju Caput Adriae me∏ano, t.j. mle≠no in mesno. Temeljilo je na uporabi mleka in mle≠nih izdelkov, mesa pre∫vekoval- cev in nepre∫vekovalcev, sladkovodnih rib in razli≠nih rastlin. Pastirji skupine Vla∏ka so v svoje go- spodarstvo poleg vzreje drobnice vklju≠ili tudi druge vire. S pomo≠jo fermentacije so predelovali mle- ko v mle≠ne izdelke.
