Comparative Stress Physiology Analysis of Biologically and Chemically Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles on Solanum Lycopersicum L.

2018
Abstract A detailed study on the effects of biologically and chemically synthesized nanoparticles in plant system was analysed. The results of the study on plant system Solanum lycopersicum revealed that biologically synthesized metal nanoparticles have less toxic effects compared to the chemically synthesized form. Silver nanoparticles were directly introduced to the plant system by petiole feeding method. Phytochemical analysis, amino acid analysis and histology were done to study the comparative stress caused by exposing to biologically and chemically synthesized silver nanoparticles. The comparatively high amount of secreted proteins, carbohydrates and phenolic compounds in the plant system exposed to silver ions and chemically synthesized silver nanoparticles points to the level of stress created. Anatomy of different plant parts also revealed that the vascular elements have undergone more structural changes in plants treated with chemically synthesized silver nanoparticles than the plants treated with biogenic silver nanoparticles.
