La fotografía de naturaleza: los retratos de árboles viejos de Rafael Janini y Saturnino Muñoz de 1914

The photography of trees in Spain has its turning point in the work Algunos arboles y arbustos viejos de la provincia de Valencia. It is the first book published with photographs of monumental trees in Spain, and one of the first in the world that systematically collects as unique graphical documents. Published in 1914 by Rafael Janini Janini, it is composed of 46 photographic images, where the absolute leading role is for photography. In 2013 it were located, by the Department of Monumental Trees of the Delegation of Valencia, 23 photographic plates of glass that were used to illustrate the above publication and has allowed us to conduct a research project, restoration and revaluation of so singular photographic collection and its authors.
