Average radiative widths of neutron resonances
1983
We present a comparison of experimental values of average radiative widths with various versions of theoretical estimates, which reduce to the dependence of GAMMA/sub ..gamma../ on the mass number A, excitation energy U, and level density parameter a in the form GAMMA/sub ..gamma../ = CA/sup ..cap alpha../U/sup ..beta../a/sup ..gamma../. In addition we have chosen empirical values of C, ..cap alpha.., ..beta.., and ..gamma.. which best satisfy the experimental data. It is established that use of the hypothesis a = kA leads to a substantially better correspondence of all theoretical estimates of GAMMA/sub ..gamma../ with the experimental values. Here it turns out that estimates of GAMMA/sub ..gamma../ according to the Weisskopf and Bondarenko-Urin methods or with empirically chosen parameters give approximately the same correspondence of the theoretical values of GAMMA/sub ..gamma../ with the experimental values.
