A participação da comunidade na estruturação da vigilância de agrotóxicos no Município de São Sebastião do Alto, no Estado de Rio de Janeiro

The concern with the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers in the Mountaineer Region of the State of Rio de Janeiro took the Center of Studies of the Health of the Worker and Ecology Human being of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation - CESTEH/FIOCRUZ, together with the State Secretaries of the Health, through the Center of Monitoring Epidemiologist - CVE/SES/RJ, and of the Agriculture, Supplying, fishing and Development of the Interior, through the Coordination of Vegetal Sanitary Defense - CDSV/SEAAPI/RJ for the city of Sao Sebastiao do Alto, with the intention of implementing actions of monitoring and attention, for reducing, to protect and to promote the health of the population that habits the agricultural zone (the agricultural workers and their families) and the environment (water, foods, ground, fauna and wild flora), opting in implementing the strategies consecrated for the Organization Pan-American of the Health- OPAS for the construction of healthful cities, through the Ambient Primary Attention - APA. For the execution of the work two groups had been constituted that had decided to carry through a participative ambient diagnosis through the popular consultation. 34 ballot boxes in the city had been distributed, with 3.309 participation, drawings also made for the pupils of the pre-school. Also 7 meetings with the community had been carried through, in the municipal schools of the agricultural area and the urban area. The main presented problems had been related to the bad use of the land, as deforestations, forest fires, blockage of the rivers, sand draw of the rivers, the hunting of wild animals, the inadequate collection and treatment of the garbage, lack of sanitary exhaustion, bad conservation of the roads and streets, lack of spaces for leisure, and the indiscriminate use of pesticides.
