The invention discloses a home screen icon management system for an electronic device. The home screen icon management system for the electronic device comprises a creation module, a detection module, a judgment module and an execution module, wherein the creation module is used for creating a switching window for every page of a home screen of the electronic device, and created switching windows are displayed on all pages; the detection module is used for detecting a long press operation of a user on any icons on the pages of the home screen, and detecting a dragging operation of the user on the icon when the long press operation on the icon is detected; the judgment module is used for judging whether the icon is dragged to the position of the created arbitrary switching window or not when the dragging operation on the icon is detected; and the execution module is used for moving the icon to the page which corresponds to the switching window when the icon is dragged to the position of the switching window. The invention also provides a home screen icon management method for the electronic device. According to the home screen icon management system and the home screen icon management method for the electronic device, disclosed by the invention, the user can conveniently manage the icons on the home screen of the electronic device.
