Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled devices were developed to make everyday life easier. Smart devices are becoming ubiquitous and increasing rapidly in number and applications. The growing popularity of smart devices indicates that the Internet of Things (IoT) technology is becoming more and more prominent in our everyday life. The IoT market was valued at $190 billion in 2018 and is expected to reach $1.1 trillion by 2026.1 Widely available products include digital assistants, smart home security systems, remote educational labs, wearable medical devices, and industrial IoT devices and systems. According to Gartner Research,2 there were 8.4 billion connected things in 2017, setting the stage for 20.4 billion IoT devices to be deployed by 2020, and 500 billion IoT devices in 2030.
