Phenotyping of drought tolerance in groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

2021
Groundnut is an important legume crop grown in more than 100 countries. Intermittent drought is very common in groundnut production in India and world. The breeding for drought tolerance in groundnut has become difficult due to a complex nature of trait. There are many genes involved in the drought tolerance. Many breeding programs follows empirical approaches for the selections of drought tolerant lines, where yield and their surrogates are used. In the 10-year efforts are shifted towards physiological mechanism of drought tolerance. In the present article we have reviewed all the articles related to drought tolerance in groundnut which will be useful to researcher to breed varieties for drought tolerance.
