Single-stage fluidized-bed gasification of peat

Peat Gasification tests have been conducted in a single-stage, fluidized-bed gasifier using steam and oxygen to produce a medium-Btu fuel gas at the Institute of Gas Technology (IGT). Twenty tests have been conducted using a high temperature, high pressure process development unit (PDU) with peat from Minnesota. A wide range of operating conditions has been covered. A rate expression for fixed carbon conversion and relationships between operating conditions and results have been developed. The rate expression, correlations, and comparisons between calculated and experimental results are presented and discussed.
