A panorama image generation method using FAST algorithm

The present invention relates to a method for generating a panorama image by using a feature from accelerated segment test (FAST), to generate a panorama image from multiple captured images captured towards multiple directions. According to the present invention, the method comprises the following steps of: (a) converting the captured images into an image projected to plain coordinates according to a cylindrical coordinate system; (b) extracting features from the projected image through a FAST technique; (d) matching the features by using a random sample consensus (RANSAC) technique and removing erroneous points; and (e) calculating homography between the projected images, and using the homography to convert the coordinates of the image, so as to generate the panorama image. According to the present invention, the panorama image can be made irrespective of input order and direction of the image when the image is matched, and in particular, a distortion-corrected and natural panorama image can be generated.
