Energy Conservation on Existing Buildings in Milan: Retrofit/Maintenance Associated Program on 2000 Dwellings

Preliminary results of a demonstration program on energy retrofits of 2000 low-cost apartments in the Northern Italy Lombardy Region are presented. Within this program, a novel energy audit and technical-economic analysis procedure has been developed. The main feature of this procedure is to couple energy saving retrofits and ordinary bUilding maintenance operations~ This approach has proved to be particularly cost~effective ~hen dealing with seriously decayed housing stocks~ Results of the energy analysis for a group of 21 bUildings are presented and discussed@ The actual retrofit actions are currently (winter 83-84) under way~ Future plans call for an extension of the program to 20,000 apartments with a total funding of about US$ 6 million from government agencies@
