Evaluation of the Effective Properties of High Silica/Phenolic Composite under Volumetric Ablation Condition
2011
The volumetric ablation problem of high silica/phenolic composites was studied by microstructure analysis of the internal material before and after ablation. The mesophysical models considering matrix and fiber were established. The effect of pore gas pressure on the material properties was considered in the Arrhenius equation. The macroscopic thermo-mechanical and thermo-physical behavior for high silica fiber and phenolic resin associated with the mesostructure were discussed by the Mori-Tanaka method. Finally, the elastic modulus and thermal expansion coefficient of high silica/phenolic composites under high temperature were predicted according to the effective properties of component materials.
