Nonlinear Eigenmodes in Quadratic Film Waveguides

The existence of nonlinear eigenmodes in waveguide composed of a slab with quadratic nonlinearity surrounded by (non)linear claddings is reported. The modes having bright and dark soliton-like shape and consisting of mutually locked fundamental and second harmonics are found. The asymmetric modes are shown to exist in symmetric environments.
