RADIOLOGÍA DIGITAL EN LA EVALUACIÓN DE CALCIFICACIONES EN TEJIDOS BLANDOS DIGITAL RADIOLOGY IN EVALUATION OF CALCIFICATIONS IN SOFT TISSUES

In the radiographic evaluation a special attention must be given to some radiopaque images projected over the soft tissues, these ones might correspond to areas of calcification. Calcifications are found in soft tissues can be related to systemic diseases, which detected in early stages can have a favorable prognosis and treatment. Detection of these calcifications is ideal through digital radiology, because it allows us a better evaluation of the area thanks to the different tools of image performance provided by thr software. This article aims to review about the different types of calcifications that can be seen using stomatological radiographic evaluations; addition to the important role of the dentist to detect such calcifications (Kiru 2012;9(2):161-166).
