Unconventional coding technique applied to multilevel polarization modulation

We propose a new technique to improve information confidentiality in optical fiber telecommunications. A pseudo random sequence was generated by a dynamic system algorithm and used to codify a multilevel polarization modulation based on the Stokes vector. Optical fiber birefringence, usually considered as a disturb, was exploited in order to obfuscate the signal transmission. At the receiver, the same pseudo random sequence was generated and used to decode the multilevel polarization modulation.
