Heterotopic Pancreas in Gall Bladder (Case Report)

2004
The presence of pancreatic tissue outside the limits of the main pancreatic gland is termed as heterotopic pancreas. Due to their origin and spread, these lesions form an intramural mass with relatively late mucosal invasions. Therefore their diagnosis is difficult to be proven by endoscopic biopsy and radiological measures. In this report, we present a case of heterotopic pancreas located in the gall bladder which was treated by cholecystectomy in our general surgery clinic with the aim to remind that any suspicious mass could include heterotopic pancreas and its possible complications should be considered in differential diagnosis. Key Words: Heterotopic pancreas, Gall bladder, Complication.
